Larynx shaver blades

Recent development of a variety of blades has expanded the role of the microdebrider within
the airway. Blades are now available ranging in length from 18 to 45 cm and in 2.9, 3.5, and
4.0 mm diameters. Configurations include various positions of the cutting window, as well as
both angled and straight configurations at the distal tip. A double curve proximally allows a
parallel line axis of motion when passed through an operating laryngoscope and an additional
endoscope or instrument to be passed simultaneously. Blade selection is dictated by the
condition being treated and anatomic location. Cutting edges progress from the nonaggressive
Skimmer® blade, designed for precise excision of small lesions in delicate areas, to the most
aggressive Tricut® blade for rapid excision of large bulky lesions.
