Pulsar II pulsed plasma device MEDTRONIC
The PEAK surgical system is indicated for cutting and coagulation of soft tissues during general, plastic, cardiac, and reconstructive (such as skin incisions and skin flap creation), otolaryngological, gynecological, orthopedic, arthroscopic, spinal, and neurosurgical procedures.
The generator delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy to a suitable disposable monopolar handpiece plasma tip which creates an ionic cloud (plasma) and transmits the energy to the surgical field with minimal thermal damage.
Electrosurgical operations
The PULSAR II generator has the following operating options:
Cutting functions:
- Low Cut – Precision cutting with some hemostasis and minimal collateral damage.
- Medium cut (clean cut) – Precision cut with increased hemostasis and collateral damage.
- High cut (mixed cut) – Precision cutting with strong hemostasis
Hemostasis functions:
Hemostasis increases as regulation increases.
- Low hemostasis (local hemostasis)
- Υψηλή αιμόσταση (ψεκασμός)
Other features of the PULSAR II generator are as follows:
- Only PEAK PlasmaBlade plasma tips can be
used with the PULSAR II generator which have two
buttons, one for cutting and one for hemostasis, and they have a middle
temperature 40-170oC.
- Optionally, it has a Foot Switch to control the device (wireless infrared foot switch)
- Features four preset memory buttons for storing and recalling user preferences (default setpoints and volume levels)
- It has a patient return electrode connection socket and electrical resistance detection.
- It has a color LCD touch screen with the ability to adjust cutting and hemostasis on a scale from 1-10. Information messages, as well as error and malfunction messages, are displayed on the screen.
- It has audio signals – Activation sounds and alarm sounds.
- The generator has self-test software which runs every time the device is started.[
It can be connected to the following plasma nozzles:
- Low temperature pulsed plasma spatula tip with 4 mm blade diameter, rotating and flexible tip, with two buttons, one for cutting and one for hemostasis. The tip is 99.5% insulated peripherally for precision cutting and minimal trauma to adjacent anatomical structures.
- Needle-type low-temperature pulsed plasma tip with a blade diameter of 4 mm, rotating and flexible tip, with two buttons, one for cutting and one for hemostasis.
- Low temperature pulsed plasma tip with 2 buttons (cutting-hemostasis) with integrated suction lumen and telescopic flexible rotating 3mm tip blade with working length from 5cm to 15cm. The tip is 99.5% insulated peripherally for precision cutting and minimal trauma to adjacent anatomical structures.
- Low temperature pulsed plasma generator tip with 2 buttons (cutting-hemostasis) with integrated suction lumen and straight and curved flexible rotating blade suitable for tonsillectomy-adenotomy procedures.
- Low temperature pulsed plasma spatula tip with a diameter of 3 mm, rotating and flexible tip, with two buttons, one for cutting and one for hemostasis, with integrated suction tube, telescopically extendable 5.5 cm -15 cm.
