FLUOBEAM LS parathyroid gland identification camera by GETINGE

The “FLUOBEAM LS” system consists of:

  1. Fluoroscopic camera with a special head.
  2. Monitor - computer 24'' (1920 x 1080) with touch screen and pre-installed FLUOSOFT LS imaging software.
  3. Wheeled mounting system, with two shelves, basket and vesa type monitor - PC mounting system.

The special head is equipped with a class 1 laser which emits radiation at a wavelength of 750nm and LED lights and, through the special console, detects radiation in the infrared spectrum, providing a high-definition fluoroscopic image of the surgical field in real time on the system's screen.

Thanks to the property of the parathyroid glands and lymph nodes to emit radiation (autofluorescence phenomenon), the surgical team, using the special head intraoperatively, accurately detects and visualizes the parathyroid glands and confirms their position and integrity during the operation, as well as detecting and confirming the lymph nodes, ensuring their correct removal when deemed necessary.

There is also the possibility of intravenously injecting the substance ICG (Indocyanine Green) into the patient, which enhances the autofluorescence of the parathyroid glands (due to the high uptake of the drug by the parathyroid glands).
The usefulness of the system, beyond cases of parathyroid adenoma removal for their identification and confirmation, is also used in cases of thyroidectomy as well as in cervical lymph node dissection to identify, confirm and ensure the integrity of the parathyroid glands and avoid hypocalcemia postoperatively.
